D PHARMACY

A Pharmacist's job is to prepare, mix, compound or dispense drugs and medicines, ointments, powder, pills, tablets and injections on the prescription of a medical practitioner, dentist or veterinarian. Pharmacists are concerned with production of pharmaceutical products, development of the methods or processes of production and quality control. Besides they assist the physician in rendering necessary information about various drugs, their contra-indications, incompatibility etc. Diploma in pharmacy students can set up own pharmacy or chemists and druggists shop to stock after registering with the state Pharmacy Council, of India. A Pharmacist can be a successful medical representative, with good communication skills and a flair for convincing people. Pharmacist can work with pharmaceutical industry, government departments, universities, teaching hospitals, investigation and research institute etc.

Admission Criteria for Diploma in Pharmacy (D.PHARM):

Eligibility

Pass in BSc/PC BSc/PB BSc Nursing recognized by Indian Nursing Council, and a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate.

The examinations for D.Pharm Examinations conduct under Directorate of Medical Education (D.M.E.)

A candidate seeking admission should have:

Minimum qualification for admission to Diploma in Pharmacy Part I course: A candidate should pass in any of the following examinations with Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects:

Intermediate Examination in Science,

10+2 examination (academic stream) in Science

Pre-degree examination or

Any other qualification approved by the PCI as equivalent to any of the above examinations.

Duration of the Course:

The duration of the course shall be for two academic years, with each academic year spread over a period of not less than one hundred and eighty working days in addition to 500 hours practical training spread over a period of not less than 3 months.
